We want to share with you a story about how God saves people. This is a story about a guy named Katana, the coronavirus, our team, and how God uses it all for his glory.
The times of strict quarantine were especially difficult for us. We could not carry out any projects, the atmosphere in Mombasa was tense due to unemployment, police brutality and closed schools. We understood that now, sitting at home, children and young people have an even greater chance of getting hooked on drugs, we heard rumors about new underage pregnant women – idleness is destructive.

We understood that now more than ever we wanted to be close to our guys, but we were very limited in movement. My team and I continued to pray every day for God’s wisdom and guidance. And we decided, observing the corona rules, once a week after fasting and prayer to go share the Gospel from house to house, as well as in hangouts where people drink moonshine and smoke weed. There we met Katan and his friends. They were drunk, and at the same time they were eating the world. At the same time, Katana quoted passages from Scripture, and we started talking.
They talked about sin, about true repentance, about the fact that knowledge of the Bible does not save, but sincere faith and repentance. He promised to come for homework. And surprisingly, he did just that. Came sober. From that time on, Katana did not miss our meetings and asked a lot of questions about the Bible.
We as a team prayed for him. At Christmas, our partner church held a concert-evangelistic evening of Christmas songs. And there our Katana accepted Christ. This year he will be one of our interns. We rejoice that we can be a part of such stories through simple obedience to God. We know this is only the beginning of his journey with God, but we believe that He will carry it through.
